09-01-12 Love Music Weekly Showcase
Introduction kindly written by Romanian Mum.
musodad – What do you want to be when you grow up?
I always listen out for the music whilst watching TV. The programme Waterloo Road is a prime example. I’m not a big fan of it but you always hear the odd Drums or Libertines song on there and also some less known bands such as Broken Bells. Match of the Day has always been fruitful, ‘Is this music?’ by Teenage Fanclub on ‘Goal of the month’ is one of my fondest memories. Soccer AM have always championed new bands as well, ‘Men’s Needs’ by The Cribs has been one of my favourite ‘Goals of the Week’ soundtracks in recent times.
My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog – Radiation Vibe
Early morning September sunlight bounced off Helene’s guitar. The rain had stopped. Exhaustion staggered Helene as she walked back inside the the studio after a short break. As unforgettable as her first professional recording session had been, she hoped Ramona would end it soon. She placed her guitar down and lifted her sore, over-worked hands to her sweat glistened forehead and ran her fingers sthrough her long, dirty brown hair. The producer emerged from the recording booth.
I Can’t Brain Today; I Have the Dumb – Musical Inspiration
I’ve learned how to play piano, saxophone and guitar as well. I’ve been in a number of musical groups (classical, jazz and rock), competed in competitions and even went to college to study music.
Music is a huge part of my life.
When I write, I listen to music and tend to have a few favorite albums I come back to. I find them relaxing and creatively stimulating.
I present, in no particular order, my Top Ten Albums for Writing.
Dear Beautiful Boy – Soundtrack of Life: Song 1
The music that you listen to and surround yourself with is the soundtrack to your life.
But right now, Little Man, you are just too little to really know about it.
Other than that you like listening to it.
And that you like Mummy singing to it.
Which probably means that your musical tastes still need to be developed a bit.
Each week Mummy and Daddy are choosing a song which has some significance to your life.
Mammasaurus – I bet you look good at a festival
Yep two from me today – one from a gig and one a montage of festivals with a birra Biffy – but can you spy me having a pint with SeaSick Steve in there ???
Dance Without Sleeping – Soundtrack to My Year 2011
I was going to do a My Big Brag of 2011 post but to be honest I couldn’t be arsed. So I will resort to be default position and post a track that sums up my year.
Which has been pretty good and slightly manic by the way.
I give you Upside Down by Paloma Faith
Multiple Mummy – Music as therapy
I used to listen to music all the time. Now I could barely tell you what’s in the charts. Gone are the days of the radio and MTV, and on goes Jake and The Neverland Pirates, of which I know all the words.
As an ex Occupational Therapist who worked in mental health I know how therapeutic music can people and in fact it is a therapy within its own right.
The Princess and The Pickle – Sainsbury’s Super Saturday
I was lucky enough to win a family ticket to Sainsbury’s Super Saturday in Clapham Common on the 10th of September. I’d entered the Sainsbury’s/Channel 4 competition a couple of weeks earlier and having never won anything before in my life I was very excited when I was told I’d been chosen as a winner!
The event was being held to celebrate and raise awareness for the London 2012 Paralympic Games…
Here come the Girls – Mummy Woo’s Music as Therapy meme
As I have to choose three songs for this meme I thought I’d choose one for each daughter. With all three we knew we were expecting girls as I had late scans. Weller’s English Rose is the song which helped us pick twin 2’s name. It’s such a beautiful song, simple and understated.
Simplyoutnumbered – He found me… and he didn’t leave.
Sometimes you hear a song and it just seems to touch you. Even though you’ve heard it before this time the words suddenly make sense just seem to be what you need to hear.
I had that the other night driving home from work. I stuck an old cd, for some reason I was just in the mood for some Kelly Clarkson. I love some her voice and her new song is just lovely!
This is the one that really touched a chord (excuse the pun!!!!). Have a listen…
