Another week, another showcase. And what a showcase we have for you this week.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock in some sort of end-of-Christmas denial, then you can’t have failed to miss some exciting photo goodness going on this week. Lots and lots of lovely bloggers have decided to start their new year by committing to the 366 or 52 photo projects. 366 being a photo a day, and 52 being a photo a week, for one whole year.
A few weeks ago I revealed that I was planning on taking part, so I spent my New Year’s Eve doing the very glamorous job of putting together a new blog. It seems there are as many ways to work 366 as there are bloggers to take part in it, but I decided I didn’t want to clog up my existing blog with daily photos so a little spin off project was born.
The Love All Blogs Community Site was also newly born this week and if you haven’t already joined up, then you really should. It’s full of fantastic bloggers just like you, who are asking questions, coming up with ideas and generally being part of a new and exciting community.
Amongst this fledgling community you will find a troop of bloggers who have all committed to the, at times inspirational and at times crazy, project that is 366 (or 52)! The hope is that by supporting one another that we can all keep each other going. So if you’re doing one of these photo projects then don’t go it alone, come and join in.
Love All Blogs has pledged to support the 366 and 52 bloggers and all their fantastic photos. So you can join the blog roll and 366 / 52 linky, or join the group and link up all your posts on a day-to-day basis. The Boy and Me is also running a lovely linky for the 366 project, where every Sunday you can link up your favourite picture from the week.
I think that the 366 and 52 photo projects are really exciting. More people picking up their cameras, more of the time to take more pictures can only be a good thing as far as I’m concerned.
Getting to share all the gorgeousness in this week’s Love Photo Blogs showcase is just one very fortunate advantage, and it’s the advantage that I’ll leave you with now…
Introduction kindly written by Lucy from Dear Beautiful Boy
Dear Beautiful Boy – day one
My excited boy at his first ever parade.
So there’s today’s photo.
I took a whopping 241 photos today so I guess I went a bit overboard in my bid to get a good starting picture. But in my defence we were at the New Year’s Day Parade in London so there was a lot to photograph.
Discovering Cyprus – Life with a view
Life with a view…….
Boo Roo and Tigger Too – I’m taking part in Mamatography 2012
What is the challenge I hear you all ask… very simple, take a photo everyday of 2012. A photo journal of my year, for example, today would be a pile of tissues as I’m feeling under the weather.
twopointfourchildren – watching the world go by
Day 9 of my 366 or 365 project.
HPMcQ – home & away – christmas/new year 2011
we stayed close to home for christmas and then went and had fun on the north nor fold coast for new year. heres a snap shot of what it looked like
Mutterings of a Fool – Top 5 photos of 2011
I have become a bit obsessive in the last year in taking photo’s, having a new baby can do that can’t it? However I’ve also been very brave and taken my DSLR off auto and actually tried to use it’s settings. So hear’s my choice of my favourite photo’s from 2011. I have to say picking just 5 photo’s were hard, I mean I have about 500 of Matilda to start with.
Cheetahs In My Shoes – Sleeping Lions (the ideal way to start 2012)
The first Silent Sunday of 2012
Actually Mummy… – Top 5 Photos of 2011
Over on Kate Takes 5 there is a Listography take on the year-end blog round-up post, and having seen in the New Year for my first time ever last night (yes, I made it to midnight, and could have continued if M&D were not such lightweights) I am a little too tired to write much today. So here is my year in pictures:
Yellow Days – My 5 Favourite Photos of 2011
I haven’t joined in with a listography for a while but I couldn’t resist the excuse to have a trawl through my photos. I’ve got lots having been off on maternity leave all year but that does mean the vast majority are of my kids, sorry! So here are my favourites:
Five Go Blogging – Snap Slappers
Welcome to 2012!
We are 3 days in and I think I am starting to wear the year in nicely, only a couple of small blisters but otherwise I think this year will be quite comfortable.
I’ve been playing with my Picnik upgrade again and the joy of mashing a couple of photo’s together has been all mine.
Mummy’s Busy World – Quality time = BEST TIME!
Oh SNAP! This has got to be one of my favourite pictures from this past week.
After being indoors for a few days and not getting out much, we took a looooooong walk in woods to get some fresh air. After pulling me in the wagon for most of the way, I got out and walked with papi.
The Princess and The Pickle – Silent Sunday
Silent Sunday 25/12/11
The Girl Behind – Quality
We used to have Quality Street at home over Christmas, and my grandparents always had Cadbury’s Roses at their house. So I grew up always having a bit of both every year.
Nowadays, I can never decide which I prefer – this year we had a little box of each instead of a big tin of either. We’ve still not even started on the Quality Street, but I thought they made for a good picture to finish the festive season.
Johnson Babies – Project: 1/366
366, Barry Island, New Year’s Day
Rollercoaster Mum – Twelfth Night – 52 Photo Project – Week 1
Well it’s twelfth night (6th Jan – although some people think it should be the 5th Jan but that’s another story) and the Christmas decs must come down. I hate this moment each year as the house looks so bare afterwards and it signifies another year gone by in my children’s lives. Next Christmas my baby will be a schoolgirl and that is just so scary.
bluebirdsunshine – 05/366 – Play
I’m taking part in Project 366 – one photo each day for 366 days.
Chloe Witters – Project 366 – The Beginning
I’ve been agonising over whether I wanted to do a general 366 project, or an Arlo-centric one. It would be an amazing record to have a photo of Arlo each day, but in the end I’ve decided not to narrow down the rules too much. I want to record a year in the life of our family, so pretty much anything goes.
So far so good, I’ve not yet forgotten to use my camera (five days in, what an achievement). Here are my first five:
mummyratesit – Review: vtech Kidizoom Plus
Wanting to buy our four-year-old something with some staying power, we stumbled upon the vtech Kidizoom Plus camera. Six-months on and it has been put through its paces by both Ferne, her older brother and any unsuspecting victims who stand still long enough to get caught on camera…
Lakes Single Mum – A family walk round Elterwater
Despite the inclement weather I headed off to Elterwater with my parents and children for a day’s hike. It was definitely a day for full waterproofs and even an extra umbrella and there was plenty of mud and huge puddles to avoid (or in the case of my son jump in!). This was the first time the children and I had been to the area so we took great delight in taking in the sights.
Mrs Slummy Mummy – Project 366 (7)
Here come the Girls – Silent Listography
Top Photos of the Year
Hurtled to 60 and Now Beyond – Alphabes-Thursday letter g Garlic greenfly and others
I came up with lots of ideas on what to write for “G” and visited Jenny Matlock’s blog Off on my Tangent to read the rules and instructions. A number of my ideas have already been posted, nevertheless, not one to be deterred, I have decided to present a gathering of my “G”s over the last year, even if it does create a little duplication.
twopointfourchildren – Take a walk in her shoes
Day 12 of my 365 project!
The pink shoes were too hard to resist
Bishy’s Blog – Grown up in training – Disposable Digital
Just over two weeks ago Hubs returned home from a very rare visit to the pub to a somewhat hysterical wife.
His face fell, fearing something horrific had happened to Bubs. Reaching out to comfort me, he asked what was wrong.
“I’ve lost it!” I sobbed, clinging to his tshirt, “The card with all the holiday photos… Gone!”
The photos of Bubs in his cute little hat, the photos of him planting a tree with (a lot of) help from his Daddy, the photos of us with the chalkboard drawing depicting each days’ events, and so many more memories… Gone.
DorkyMum – My Best 5 Photos of 2011
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve all had a great time over the holidays.
I managed to stick to my decision to keep away from the blog between Christmas and New Year, but now it’s time to crank my computer back up again and come up with some words. I’m easing myself back in gently with a photo based post that doesn’t require too much chat – The Listography over at Kate Takes 5 this week is your 5 best photos of 2011 – here are mine.
HPMcQ – 03.01.12

Casa Costello – New Year’s Day 2012
Well hello 2012. How quickly you have joined us. 2011 was a great year for the Costello family so you have got a lot to live up to.
With any new year comes along a multitude of resolutions and this year is no different. I do intend on revisiting last year’s plans to see how I fared but just wanted quickly to introduce my newest project/obsession. I’m joining in with hundreds of fellow bloggers/tweeters to try to take a photo a day during 2012.
Mammasaurus – Silent Sunday
A Mummy Too – My top five photos of 2011 – Listography
Photography has helped me zoom in and appreciate the minutest of detail on my children’s faces. It’s helped me see the beauty in things I wouldn’t previously have even noticed, let alone stopped and stared at. And it’s given me a purpose beyond working or parenting.
Looking back over the years, at almost 30, I think this is my first proper ‘hobby’.
So here are my favourite snaps of 2011. They’re not about to appear in the National Portrait Gallery, or grace the walls of the Tate, but they mean a lot to me.
super amazing mum – The Trembling Lady
This is not a good photograph (far from it!) as it was taken on my phone as I was driving over Albert Bridge. However, it is a brilliant photograph for the memories it evokes and for that reason, I am uploading it!!!
