The ‘Royal Mumness’ 23-11-11

Well I have writers block this week. Does that ever happen to you? I am NaBloPoMo’d out. Completely! The well of inspiration has run dry. I asked the lovely Mammasaurus for some help and you know what she said? ‘Just be yourself’. ‘Ok’, I thought. ‘How hard can that be?’ Turns out it is pretty damn hard when you’ve written 22 posts in 22 days and only just got the last one in 90 minutes before tomorrow’s is due!

So what do you do when you are running dry on inspiration? Do you plumb the depths, set the kids up for some fun with an agenda, or do you simply take a day off? And hope for the best. Sadly, a day off is not an option for a perfectionist like me, so I am reduced to taking a blank sheet and beginning to write. And hoping for the best…

I cannot be the only one, but I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the huge amount of great writing there is amongst the Mummy bloggers (and the Daddies, Crafters and Photographers, come to that). So the question I ask you this week is, where does it all come from? Are any of you taking part in NaBloPoMo? And if you are, have you struggled for ideas?

One thing I know for sure is that here on the Royal Mumness I will not fail to find great writing. It may make me laugh, or cry, or both. But it will provide me with the inspiration I need to keep writing, either in the form of new ideas, or in the shape of a blogger or two who make me want to do better, to keep pushing my own limits, to write!

Moving on to more light-hearted (though no less important) matters, I have an announcement. The winner of the fabulous and super-kooky poster print from Aardvark this week is @minibreakmummy ! Congratulations !

But you know we just love you a bit too much and this week we have two lovely items  to  give-away – one to each of two lucky readers!  And the really great news is that all you have to do is comment with your Twitter tag and your preferred choice of prize to be entered into a random draw to win. What could possibly be simpler? (In fact, I might even have a go myself!)
